Interstices I, 2026

Blown glass and concrete

Interstices explores the quiet yet essential spaces that exist between structures, systems, and states of being. Composed of fractured concrete and hand-formed glass, the work brings together materials associated with weight and permanence alongside those defined by fluidity and transparency. Rather than fusing these elements, the sculpture allows them to remain distinct, separated by layers that both support and soften.

The glass functions as an interstitial membrane, absorbing pressure, creating distance, and revealing the voids that hold the composition in balance. These gaps are not empty; they are active sites of tension, negotiation, and potential. Light passing through the glass draws attention to what is often overlooked: the spaces that make coexistence possible.

Balancing on the edge of collapse, Interstices reflects on thresholds between the built and the organic, stability and fragility, presence and absence. The work invites viewers to consider how meaning, resilience, and transformation often reside not in solid forms themselves, but in the spaces between them.
