'Fragments of Me' is a sculptural exploration of identity, memory, and landscape. Influenced by explorative walks through the ever-changing terrain of Blows Downs Nature Reserve in Bedfordshire, the work draws directly from the textures and rhythms of the land. The steep chalky slopes, scorched mud, and scattered flint nodules, left resting on the eroded earth like forgotten moments; form the material and emotional foundation of this piece. Each ceramic fragment echoes the raw geology of the reserve while simultaneously reflecting an internal landscape. The cracked surfaces and irregular forms resemble both dried earth and the fissures of lived experience, suggesting that identity is shaped through pressure, erosion, and slow transformation. By dispersing these forms across space, 'Fragments of Me' invites viewers to consider how personal history is not a single, unified surface but a constellation of moments; shaped, weathered, and sometimes discarded, yet still deeply connected. Grounded in the physicality of place and the intimacy of memory, the work offers a meditation on how the land holds us, and how we, in turn, leave pieces of ourselves embedded in the environments we move through.
